    Public Safety

    The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

    Possession of Marijuana--Feb. 26, 9:15 p.m., 100 block of E. Fremont Avenue. The suspect drove to the rear of a business and began speeding and racing his car, spinning the tires, causing smoke and loud screeching noises. Pedestrians and other vehicles were present, causing potential danger. A license check of the suspect showed he was driving on a suspended license. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic baggie under the passenger seat with 15.7 grams of marijuana.

    Armed Robbery-Force--Feb. 26, 10:20 p.m., 1200 block of Wildwood Avenue. The officer responded to a report of a robbery that occurred at approximately 9 p.m. The victim was approached by two male suspects, who demanded his wallet and brandished some sort of cutting instrument when the victim was slow to comply. The victim surrendered his wallet to the suspects and fled.

    Assault on a Peace Officer-Feb. 26, 10:20 p.m., 100 block of Persian Drive. An officer viewed the suspect speeding. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect drove the vehicle directly at the officer. The officer dodged the vehicle and escaped injury. The suspect failed to yield to lights and siren while evading and committed a hit and run. As the suspect continued to evade, he lost control of his vehicle and spun out. The suspect was taken into custody and handcuffed, then transported to Public Safety and booked.

    Petty Theft--Feb. 26, 7:25 p.m., 200 block of W. Washington Avenue. The suspect removed a pair of pants from a display in a department store. She placed the pants in a department store bag she was carrying that also contained other items that belonged to her. She exited the store, failing to pay for the pants. The suspect was contacted outside the store by the store's loss prevention officer, who had witnessed the theft. Loss Prevention detained the suspect and contacted public safety. The officer transported the suspect to Public Safety for booking.

    Trespassing--Feb. 26, 12:46 p.m., 2500 block of Town Center Lane. Upon arrival officer contacted the security director, who said the suspect was placed under citizen's arrest pending police arrival. The director stated that the suspect was informed the previous day not to return to the mall for 72 hours based on his conduct the previous day. The suspect was taken to public safety for booking. He was ultimately transported to county jail.
