Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.
Possession of Illegal Substances--March 10, 900 block East Caribbean Drive. An officer made contact with the occupant of a suspicious vehicle parked in the lots of Twin Creeks. During the encounter, the officer obtained consent to search her vehicle. During the search, police found cannabis and methamphetamine.
Possession of Illegal Substances--March 9, 12:45 p.m., 500 block Columbia Avenue. While performing a consent search of the suspect's apartment, officer found illegal drugs and instruments for smoking drugs.
Auto Burglary--March 8, 10 p.m., 400 block Acalanes Avenue Unknown suspects forced entry into a car port on Acalanes. The suspects reached in, unlocked the door and stole a speaker from the back seat.
Drunk in Public--March 8, 3:14 p.m., Address not given. A man was screaming outside of a closed business. The man demonstrated intoxicated symptoms. He staggered and fell down. He was in a public place and not able to take care of himself. Police arrested the man without incidence.
Commercial Burglary--March 8, 2 p.m., 1200 block East Arques Ave. A burglary occurred at the fitness gym located near the above address. An unknown suspect entered the gym's locker room, picked a lock, and stole the contents while the owner was working out. The owner of the stolen items estimated the value at $130.
Malicious Mischief--March 6, 9 p.m., 600 block Garland Ave. An unknown suspect placed gang-related graffiti on storage lockers in a Garland Avenue apartment carport. Vandals also tagged the same location on March 10.
Battery--March 5, 3:45 p.m., 100 block of Wolfe Road. A battery occurred inside the victim's van, which was parked in the parking lot of 140 S. Wolfe Road. The pair were involved in an argument when the suspect struck the victim in the neck with a back hand slap. The victim made a citizen's arrest and the suspect was transported to headquarters. He was cited and released.
Grand Theft--March, time not noted. 1600 Airport Blvd., San Jose. A man reported that his laptop computer never arrived at the baggage claim area at San Jose International Airport. The man was unable to file a report with the San Jose Police Department. Loss was valued at $4,217.
