Knights win
The King's Academy boys' volleyball team opened the year with a victory to get off to a 1-0 start in the Christian Private Schools League. The Knights beat Menlo 9-15, 15-10, 15-11, 15-11.
Dons lose three
Rick Wiens and Scott Grover each had big weeks, but not the De Anza Community College baseball team.
Wiens belted six hits and Grover slapped four, but the Dons lost three straight games in Coast Conference play.
Wiens singled twice and doubled to drive in two runs and Grover clubbed a solo homer, but the Dons lost 7-6 in 11 innings to unbeaten Chabot. Matt Hall supported with a pair of doubles and Pat Lynch rapped a two-bagger for the Dons.
Wiens, Lynch and Grover all doubled and Mike Gardener added two hits, but De Anza dropped a 5-2 nod to West Valley a few days later.
Wiens singled and doubled and Grover and Dom Repetti cracked two hits apiece for De Anza in a 3-0 lost to Monterey on Saturday.
The Dons had entered the week with a solid 6-2 conference record, but the three losses dropped them to 6-5 in the conference and to 14-13 for the year.
Big Bunny Run
The annual Big Bunny Fun Run returns to Cupertino March 29 when the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department hosts the 5K run and 1 1/2-mile walk that begins at City Hall.
The event is open to competitors of all ages. The registration fee is $12 in advance ($15 on race day) for the run, or $9 in advance ($12 on race day) for the walk, for the 13-and-under run and for skaters.
