De Anza Dons on par

Matt Wiegel and Manuel Solorio each won medalist honors last week to lead the De Anza Community College men's golf team to back-to-back wins in the Northern Division of the Coast Conference.

Wiegel shot a five-over 76 and Solorio carded a 78 to lead the Dons to a 403-411 win over Foothill. Jeremy Thielen fired a 79, Fremont graduate Clemente Gonzalez shot an 80 and Lynbrook's Jeff Hons-berger finished with a 90.

Solorio's 75 sparked the Dons to a double win over Cañada and Cabrillo later in the week. Thielen shot a 79, Honsberger an 81, Wiegel an 83 and Lynbrook's Lyle McKeany an 89.

Dons win two of three

Mark Obenour singled and tripled to knock in two runs and Richard Rodrigues (Homestead) homered to lead the De Anza College baseball team to a tight 7-5 Coast Conference win over Skyline last weekend.

Zach Gudahl doubled and singled twice and Ted Culver had two hits in the win. Brad Hardtke doubled and Lou Soria (Homestead) drove in two runs.

Juan Alegria was the winning pitcher for the Dons and Tim DeHart came on to pick up his second save of the year.

The Dons, 17-8-1 for the year and 9-5 in the conference, opened the week with a 16-4 win over Hartnell. Steve Carrieri (Homestead) was the winning pitcher, pushing his record to 4-2.

Culver had a triple among his four hits to lead the Dons and Joey Passanisi singled and tripled to knock in two runs. Mike Gardner and Rick Wiens each singled and doubled, Obenour tripled and Mike Wedge doubled and drove in three runs. Rodrigues had two hits.

But the Dons lost 9-6 to Mission College.
