    Sunnyvale's annual citywide garage sale takes place April 15-16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at residences throughout Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale coordinates the garage sale to encourage the reuse and recycling of furniture, appliances, and other household items that normally end up in landfills.     Downtown Plaza design planned

    Sunnyvale is sponsoring a downtown plaza charrette. The purpose of the charrette is to develop concepts for the forthcoming downtown plaza that will be built as part of the downtown redevelopment. Over the coming two years, the downtown area will undergo major changes, including the addition of a 20-screen theater at the mall, a five-story office buildings, a new Caltrain station, and the public plaza. Interested members of the public are encourage to drop by the Sunnyvale Community Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 408.730.7702 for more details.

    Christmas in April

    From Sunnyvale to Daly City, 5,000 volunteers will make 50 homes and 12 community facilities warm, safe and dry on April 29. Christmas in April-Mid-Peninsula replaces roofs for low-income homeowners at no charge. The group is part of a national, nonprofit organization with 230 affiliates in all states.
