    More than 300 artists featured at 2002 Open Studios

    Original artwork by 350 artists, including 22 Sunnyvale residents, will be showcased at the 16th Annual Silicon Valley Open Studios tour, which will encompass several galleries, museums and bookstores all over the South Bay and the peninsula.

    Artwork will include oil paintings, ceramics, mosaics, quilts, handmade books, textiles, black-and-white photography, digitally manipulated photos, stone sculptures, jewelry, calligraphy, digital art and 30-foot-tall metal sculptures.

    Both children and adults are invited. Artwork will be available to purchase. A free tour guide will be provided. The Sunnyvale portion of the Open Studios will take place April 27-28, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., throuhout the city. Maps of the locations can be found at In My Garden, located at 127 S.     City lawnmower exchange program

    The Sunnyvale Recycling Program will hold a lawnmower exchange event on May 11 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Sunnyvale Home Depot located at 690 Kifer Road. The public is invited to bring in gasoline-powered lawnmowers to the event drained of all fluids with proof of Santa Clara County residency and be eligible to receive a $100 instant rebate on a new Black and Decker electric lawnmower.
