    Public Safety

    The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

    Auto Burglary--March 26, 10:51 p.m., 1000 block of Lakedale Drive. An officer responded to the above location to investigate an auto burglary. According to the reporting party, the burglary occurred between 10:30 p.m. on March 25 and 7 a.m. on March 26. The suspect(s) gained entry and also broke the rear sliding window of the truck. A digital stereo/CD player worth $400 was stolen from the vehicle.

    Commercial Burglary--March 26, 7 a.m., 1500 block of Tenaka Drive. Unknown suspects entered the room and took property belonging to the apartment complex and the manager without their knowledge or permission. Suspect(s) took one paint sprayer worth $1,500, one 28-tool pocket carrier worth $40, one self-adjusting pair of pliers worth $25, and one end cutter worth $25, as well as other miscellaneous items. Witness #1 saw two black males open the workshop door with a bolt cutter and then flee the scene in a van.

    Auto Burglary--March 26, 12:04 p.m., 800 block of Lakebird Drive. Suspect(s) gained entry through the workshop and stole a stereo/CD player worth $300, one black leather wallet and $130 in cash. The suspect also scratched the driver's side of the vehicle.

    Residential Burglary--March 26, 2:25 p.m., 1300 block of Eleanor Drive. Suspect(s) entered the victim's residence at the above location. Once inside, suspect(s) stole only a hidden small safe containing cash and jewelry. The items stolen were one beige fireproof safe worth $30, $2,000 cash in United States currency, one small gold nugget ring worth $250 and one Citizen brand silver and gold metal band watch worth $200.

    Maintenance Storeroom Burglary--March 26, 2:31 p.m., 1100 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Between 8 p.m. on March 25 and 7:30 a.m. on March 26 unknown suspect(s) kicked open a locked maintenance storeroom door at an apartment building at the above location.

    Grand Theft--March 25, 8 a.m., 100 block of Moffett Park Drive. Officer met with reporting party who wanted to report some company laptops and handheld computers as stolen. Reporting party said items "must" have been stolen because she has checked with all employees and all claim not to know where computers are. Items stolen are one laptop worth over $2,500, one PalmPilot worth more than $3509 and one PalmPilot worth more than $280.

    No Force Residential Burglary--March 25, 10:10 p.m., 900 block of S. Wolfe Road. On March 25 between the hours of 6 and 7:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's apartment. Once inside, the suspect ransacked the apartment. Suspect(s) stole cash, jewelry, passports and a camcorder. The suspect went out the front door without being detected.

    Identity Theft--March 25, 2:58 p.m., 1400 block of Ormsby Drive. Between Aug. 24, 2001, and Jan. 22, 2002, an identity theft occurred at the above location. An unknown suspect obtained the victim's personal identifying information without her authorization and set up three cellular telephone accounts in her name. Since opening the account in August 2001, the suspect had charged $1287.61 in cellular phone charges.

    Commercial Force Burglary--March 24, 11:29 a.m., 600 block of E. El Camino Real. Between 5 p.m. on March 22 and 11 a.m. on March 24 unknown suspect(s) smashed a window in the office at the above location and removed a digital camera worth $300 without the permission of the owner. Suspect(s) forced entry to cabinets and drawers in the office area but left valuables like a videocassette recorder, a television and computers behind.
