Westgate, Larks win
Adam Westgate and David Larks each won events, but the Fremont boys swimming team lost an 88-61 decision to Mountain View in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.
Westgate took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:58.31 and the 500 free in 5:08.86, and Larks was first in the 100 free in 59:04.
Westgate and Larks teamed with John Van and Erik Shimshock for a win in the 400 free relay in 3:53.99.
The loss dropped the Firebirds to 1-2 in division competition.
Wang high point winner
Michael Wang of the Sunnyvale Swim Club starred in the boys 11-12 age group at the United States Far Western Swimming Championships April 2 in Pleasanton.
Wang was the high-point award winner in the division after finishing first in the 100 individual medley (58.96), the 200 IM (2:05.19), the 500 freestyle (5:01.09) and the 100 free (51.35) and second in the 200 free (1:52.59) and the 50 free (24.03).
Larry Wen supported with a seventh-place finish in the 50 breaststroke in 33.18.
Also competing at the Far Westerns for the Sunnyvale Swim Club were Lauren Carter, Nija Fountano, Ian Fronczak, Sean Fronczak, William Harryman, Sharon Hyrne, Karta Khalsa, Peter Lo and Adam Westgate.
