Lamson waits for courtroom
The trial of former Homestead High School football coach Jeff Lamson was pushed back from the April 6 start date pending open space in a courtroom, according to prosecutors.
Deputy district attorney Debbie Baldocchi said she has two cases to try before Lamson's and that a trial could happen "in a few weeks or in two months," depending on the length of her current cases and the availability of court space.
Lamson's trial is considered a low priority because the defendant is out of custody and has waived his right to have his case brought to trial within 60 days of arrest.
Lamson was charged last summer with two counts of oral copulation and 10 counts of penetration with a foreign object with a minor. He also faces charges of "annoying or molesting" a 14-year-old girl in the 1996-97 school year.
