The following incidents were culled from reports filed by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Possession of illegal substance April 9, 5:42 p.m. Officers arrested three men at a residence on Helen Street after finding amphetamines and drug paraphernalia inside. Police were investigating a hit-and-run accident when they were led to the home. After being invited inside the apartment, officers noticed a glass crack pipe and a black gram scale loaded with white powder, which tested positive for amphetamines. Officers also found a pager with codes suspected to be used to arrange drug sales and purchases. The three male suspects, ages 31, 20 and 19, were all booked into county jail.

Shoplifting April 9, 1:55 p.m. A 39 year-old male suspect at JCPenney in the Town Center was witnessed by security guards trying to steal four pairs of size eight Lee's jeans. When security officers tried to apprehend the suspect outside the store, the suspect fled toward Murphy Avenue, where he ran into two Sunnyvale police officers. The suspect was jailed for petty theft.

Resisting Arrest April 10, 1:15 a.m. Officers stopped a car for a faulty headlight and were sent on a 1.9 mile chase through Sunnyvale. The suspect led officers through residential areas, reaching speeds of 50 mph. The driver exited his car in front of a residence. After a short pursuit on foot, officers apprehended the 28-year-old male suspect and booked him into county jail.
