Police nab homicide suspect

Five to eight more men still at large

San Jose police arrested a man April 12 on a charge of homicide in connection with the beating death of a 21-year-old Sunnyvale man.

Police are still searching for five to eight other men in their late teens or early 20s who are believed to be involved in the beating of Humberto M. Villar on March 30 following a traffic dispute. Villar died at San Jose Medical Center on April 2.

Police arrested Felipe Garcia, 21, who was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Police said Villar and two men were headed south in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Monterey Highway near San Jose Avenue when they got into a dispute with the suspects, who were in two other vehicles.

Villar and the others stopped at the parking lot where they continued the confrontation and Villar and another passenger were assaulted, police said. The suspects then fled.

Villar was found near the liquor store parking lot by police checking on the fight.

He was taken to San Jose Medical Center.

Police investigators are continuing their search and ask that anyone with information contact Detectives Ed Zarate or Scott Cornfield at 277-5283.
