Sunnyvale Public Library Programs
The Sunnyvale Library's Book Discussion Group will be meeting on April 19 at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Naked and the Dead" by Norman Mailer. All are welcome to attend the free discussion.
Nona Mock Wyman, local author of "Chopstick Childhood," will be speaking on her personal account of growing up in an orphanage for Chinese American girls, the Ming Quong Home in Los Gatos. Wyman will be speaking on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the library's program room.
The Sunnyvale Library will host Reflections: Celebrating Sunnyvale's Diversity, during an evening of poetry reading featuring public readings of poems from many cultures, including Rumi, Maya Angelou, Baudelaire and more. The readings will be held on April 25 at 7 p.m. at the library, 665 W. Olive Ave, Sunnyvale.
Planning for Retirement
The Fremont Union High School District and Community Education Program is holding a workshop about investing on April 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Adult Education Center, 589 W. Fremont Ave, Sunnyvale. The workshop will include information on coping with inflation and taxes, social security's role in retirement and more. Cost for the course is $29. 'Crazy for You' Comes to Sunnyvale through May 6
The Sunnyvale Community Players announce the opening of their production of Crazy for You, the Tony-award winning musical, opening April 13 and running through May 6. The production will be performed Thursdays, at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, at 8 p.m. and Sundays, at 2:30 p.m., except Sunday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $16 for adults, $13 for students and seniors, and $11 for Thursday shows. 'Chicago' at the Flint
The hit musical Chicago will be performed in three performances at the Flint Center on May 29 to 31, at 8 p.m. Based on the reality-inspired 1926 play of the same name, Chicago is the story of Roxie Heart, a nightclub floozy who finds her road to fame through a trail of blood. The story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, adultery and treachery first premiered on Broadway in 1975. Tickets go on sale April 16, $36 -$56. Call the box office at 408.998.2277.
