FUHSD 75th anniversary celebration continues
Fremont Union High School District continues the celebration of its 75th anniversary with a Community Celebration Picnic on Saturday, April 29, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on the Fremont High School front lawn and main school building, 1279 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Scheduled activities include displays of school memorabilia and modernization projects, a community volleyball tournament, and a sock hop featuring music from the 1920s to the 1990s. At 3 p.m., district officials will honor Marty Mathiesen, who has been with the district since its beginning.

De Anza Pow Wow slated for May
The 20th annual De Anza College Pow Wow is scheduled for May 5-7, on the De Anza College campus, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. The Pow Wow features traditional American Indian arts and crafts, dancing, food booths and a American Indian film festival. Representatives from local tribes and tribes from across the U.S. and Canada will participate. The event is open to the public.

Sunnyvale schools hold Camp Invention
Fairwood and Cherry Chase elementary schools will play host to Camp Invention, a national summer day camp that encourages children to develop their creative abilities. The Fairwood event is scheduled for June 26-30. The Cherry Chase camp is slated for July 17-21. Camp Invention is designed to promote creative learning by providing children with hands-on, interactive activities that encourage creative solutions. Children participate in five inventive modules each day. The camp was founded in 1990 by the National Inventors Hall of fame in Akron, Ohio. This summer, 46 cities nationwide will participate in the event.
The camp fee is $170. Scholarships are available. Registration is limited to 10 children.
