      By DICK SPARRER

Scott Grover (Los Gatos) and Mike Gardner (Leland) each had two hits to drive in two runs apiece to lead the De Anza Community College baseball team to a tight 5-4 win over the College of San Mateo in Coast Conference play last weekend.

Matt Hall (Homestead) added two hits for the Dons in the win, and Jason Curnutt (Santa Teresa) ripped a double. Jeremy Cunningham (Monta Vista) was the winning pitcher, punching his record to 6-5.

Cunningham had come on in relief to pick up the save earlier in the week in a 3-2 De Anza win over Cabrillo. Hall had two hits to knock in a couple of runs, and Dom Repetti (St. Francis) added two hits. Curnutt and Joey Passanisi (St. Francis) each doubled.

De Anza dropped a 7-3 decision to the City College of San Francisco in other action last week.

The Dons are now 13-9 in conference play and 21-17 for the year.

In other junior college action, Matt Troedson (Santa Teresa) had four hits to lead the West Valley College baseball team to a 10-6 win over San Jose City College last weekend.

Noah Sweeters (Los Gatos) picked up the mound win for the Vikings, evening his season record at 2-2. The Vikes are now 12-9 in the Coast Conference and 23-13 for the year.

West Valley had opened the week with a 12-4 win over Mission College. Ryan Becks (Santa Teresa) was the winning pitcher, pushing his record to 9-2, and he helped his cause with a pair of singles.

Nick Dalis (Bellarmine) had two hits for the Vikings, and Josh Tanner and Nick Rosa ripped three each. Isaac Yacap (Milpitas) had two hits to drive in four runs.

Troy Marcyes (Leigh) drove in a pair of runs for the Saints.

Jeff Canter (Fremont) homered and Troedson had three hits, but West Valley lost a tight 7-6 nod to Ohlone.

Rudy DeAnza (Fremont) homered and singled twice, and Tom Jimenez (Fremont) had three hits to lead San Jose to an 8-4 win over Monterey Peninsula College.

But the Jags lost 7-2 to Chabot despite a double and two singles by Jimenez earlier in the week.

San Jose is 6-15 in the conference and 13-25 for the year.
