    Monarchs win title

    Brian Dombrowski scored a pair of goals to lead the Mitty boys junior varsity roller hockey team to a 2-1 win over Piedmont Hills in the league championship game.

    Members of the championship team, coached by Dennis Choi, included Dombrowski, goalkeeper Chris Choi, Andrew Verbrugge, Jamie Dahl, Adam Wiseman and Josh Tofig of San Jose; Matt Beams of Gilroy; Logan Dudley of Los Gatos; Nick Marko of Sunnyvale; and Andy Lounsbury of Santa Clara.

    Mitty now moves up to a higher division for the spring season, which has just begun at Rollin' Ice in San Jose.

    The sport is not sanctioned by local schools.


    Cindergals reunion

    The San Jose Cindergals, a top-flight age-group track and field club coached by Augie to Argabright from 1985, will hold a reunion on June 16 at Vasona Park in Los Gatos.

    Argabright, currently the cross country coach at San Jose State University, turned out 47 national age-group champions in his 18 years as the coach of the Cindergals. Two members of the squad, Francie Larrieu and Cindy Poor, went on to compete for U.S. Olympic teams.
