Tough week for Dons

The De Anza Community College baseball team dropped a pair of tough decisions last week, losing by a run in back-to-back games in Coast Conference play.

The Dons lost a tough 2-1 decision to Cañada, then dropped a tight 3-2 nod to the City College of San Francisco.

The two losses left the Dons 14-9 in the conference and 24-13-1 for the season.

Colt League signups

The North County Colt League is currently holding baseball signups for the 1996 season. The league is open to players ages 15-16. For more information, call Jerry Feldman at 248-7738.

School gym open

Sunnyvale will offer an open gym for boys and girls ages 7-12 on Saturdays, 9-11 a.m., at Sunnyvale Middle School. The cost is $2 per person, and youngsters must bring a school ID. For more information, call Heidi at 730-7721.

Youth football signups

The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Pop Warner football organization has scheduled signups for the fall season for boys and girls interested in becoming players and cheerleaders.

Signups will be held May 11, June 8 and July 13, 9 a.m.-noon each day, at Fair Oaks Park in Sunnyvale.
