      South wins two

      The South boys pulled out a tight 88-81 victory over the North, and the South girls rolled to a 78-64 win earlier the same day in basketball last week.

      Homestead's Hilary Parker fired in 14 points to star for the North in the game. Yvonne Chen of Homestead supported with seven points.

      Rich Lockmanese tossed in five points in the losing effort for the North boys.

      Tourney a winner

      The Every Child's a Winner Classic martial arts tournament will make its debut at Lynbrook High School on May 10 when youngsters ages 7-17 will all go home with trophies just for displaying their martial arts talents.

      Competition will be held in individual as well as team events.

      SC Baseball

      Santa Clara University baseball coaches Mike Cummins and Lou Lucas will host their annual Santa Clara Baseball School with three sessions set for June and July for players ages 9-16.

      Session I runs June 23-27 and Session II, July 7-11. The camp covers basic fundamentals and hitting from 9 a.m.-noon, with a special pitching session 1-2:30 p.m. The cost is $100 for the morning session and $50 for the pitching session.

      Session III will feature special hitting-only camps July 21-25, 9-10:15 a.m. and 10:30-11:45 a.m. The cost is $50 per session.

      Sunnyvale soccer

      The Sunnyvale Soccer AYSO will hold signups for the fall season on May 14 (7-9 p.m. at Lakewood Park), May 31 (noon-5 p.m. at Town Center Courtyard) and June 14 (noon-5 p.m. at Ponderosa Park).

      Players must be 5 by Dec. 31, 1997, and no older than 18 as of Aug. 1, 1997, to be eligible. Players who did not play AYSO soccer last season must provide proof of age.

      Players must provide: names and phone numbers of family doctor and emergency contact person; name of health insurance company; and a passport-size photograph of the player.

      The league is also looking for volunteer referees for the fall season (students over the age of 12, or adults).

      Youth football

      The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Pop Warner football program will hold signups for players and cheerleaders on May 17, June 21 and July 12, 9 a.m.-noon each day, at Fair Oaks Park in Sunnyvale. For more information, call 737-9654.
