    Public Safety

    The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

    Under the influence--April 23, 1:05 p.m., intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Eden Drive. An officer contacted the suspect because he was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk without a headlight. The suspect displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He admitted he had used crank during the previous two hours. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and was transported to the county jail.

    Auto burglary--April 22, 2:15 p.m., 1000 block of Morse Avenue. An officer responded to the above location for a report of an auto burglary. The victim said that between 4 p.m. on April 21 and 2:15 p.m. on April 22, the unknown suspect(s) forced entry into his vehicle. The suspect(s) took from the vehicle one 400-watt stereo amplifier, worth $200, one car stereo equalizer, worth $200, one Pioneer car stereo, worth $300, and one radar detector, worth $200.

    Auto burglary--April 22, 9:05 a.m., 1000 block of Reed Avenue. An officer responded to the above location to investigate an auto burglary. The officer met with the victim, who explained that the burglary had occurred between 8:30 p.m. on April 21 and 8: 30 a.m. on April 22. Once inside the vehicle, the suspect had searched the glove box and emptied its contents onto the front passenger seat. The suspect also gained access to the trunk and stole a black Panasonic VCD player worth $50.

    Trespassing on private property--April 21, 1:06 p.m., 1100 block of Ayala Drive. Sunnyvale Public Safety responded to investigate the report of a subject trespassing on the property at the above location. The suspect was located sleeping on the ground at the rear of the apartment complex. The suspect did not live at the address. The reporting party, who was the apartment manager, requested the police to arrest the suspect for trespassing. Because the suspect refused to leave after being asked to by the manager numerous times, the suspect was arrested and transported to the county jail.

    Burglary auto force--April 21, 10 a.m., 100 block of Sunset Avenue. Unknown suspects entered a vehicle and removed personal property without the owner's permission. Items taken were $10 in U.S. currency, eight storage locker keys, one carton of cigarettes, one clipboard and miscellaneous papers.
