    Hussein is 1-over

    Senior Jameel Hussein fired a 1-over par 36 at the Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course, but the Homestead golf team dropped a heartbreaking 194-195 decision to Palo Alto to slip to 8-3 in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

    Sophomore Jason Simon finished 5-over with a 41, but Fremont lost a tough 222-237 nod to Los Altos at the Los Altos Country Club. The Firebirds dropped to 1-9 in the De Anza Division.Pop Warner Football

    De Anza Déjà Vu

    Sports Writing

    The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame has announced its annual Art Rosenbaum High School Sports Writing Scholarship program for high school juniors and seniors.

    The Hall of Fame, in conjunction with the Saints and Sinners, will award a $2,500 scholarship for the best sports story by a high school junior or senior that appeared in their school publication, $1,500 for second place and $1,000 for third place.

    De Anza Bulldogs

    The De Anza Bulldogs, a boys under-13 Class 1 soccer team, is looking for players interested in competing in their year-round program. Players (born after July 31, 1987) will play under-13 soccer in the spring and under-14 in the fall. The team will be coached by Dan Dalzochio and Eric Yamamoto.
