    Former football all-stars

    It was the summer of 1974 when a football game called the Santa Clara County All-Star Bowl debuted at San Jose State's Spartan Stadium.

    The summer classic, now known as the Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game, returns Friday, July 23 for its 25th anniversary game.

    To celebrate, the Almaden Valley Rotary Club invites all former high school all-star players and coaches to attend.

    Footbag festival

    The 14th annual Western Regional Footbag Championships for Cystic Fibrosis will be held May 29-31 at Stanford University. Over 150 competitors are expected, and new players are welcome. Call 1-650-366-5554 or visit www.footbag.org/events.

    Youth Soccer

    The De Anza Youth Soccer League will hold signups for boys and girls ages 4-18 interested in playing in the 1999 fall season on May 15.

    The registration fee is $85 for under-6 to under-8, $95 for under-10 to under-12 and $100 for under-13 and above. Applications are available at the De Anza League Registrar, 7409 Fallenleaf Lane, Cupertino.
