    Fremont Second

    Fremont's Tony Nguyen and Diana Ngo joined forces to claim a second-place finish in mixed doubles at the frosh-soph badminton finals in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

    Nguyen and Ngo defeated Lynbrook's Yen-Min Chu and Teresa Huang 15-11, 15-4 before losing to a Palo Alto pair in the finals.

    All-star Football

    Football's finest high school seniors will be back on the field this summer when the 27th annual Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game returns to the Santa Clara Valley.

    The tradition will continue when the game, hosted by the Rotary Club of Almaden Valley, is played on July 25, 7:30 p.m., but the location will be brand new. For the first time, the game will be played at the Independence High School stadium in east San Jose.

    Sports Writing

    The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame has announced its annual Art Rosenbaum High School Sports Writing Scholarship program for high school juniors and seniors.

    The Hall of Fame, in conjunction with the Saints and Sinners, will award a $2,500 scholarship for the best sports story by a high school junior or senior that appeared in their school publication, $1,500 for second place and $1,000 for third place.
