    Former football all-stars

It was the summer of 1974 when a football game called the Santa Clara County All-Star Bowl debuted on the turf at San Jose State's Spartan Stadium.

The Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game returns this summer for its 25th anniversary game Friday, July 23, at Spartan Stadium.

To celebrate, game organizers--the Almaden Valley Rotary Club--invite all former high school all-star players and coaches to attend.

For more information on the anniversary game, and for former players and coaches to reserve their place at the event, write to All-Star Events, P.O. Box 20933, San Jose (95160), or send a fax to 268-2960.

    Footbag festival

The 14th annual Western Regional Footbag Championships for Cystic Fibrosis will be held May 29-31 at Stanford University. Over 150 competitors are expected, and new players are welcome. For more information, call 1-650-366-5554 or check their website at www.footbag.org/events.

    Football signups

It's time to start thinking about the fall Pop Warner Football season, and youngsters ages 7-15 living in Sunnyvale and Cupertino can sign up as either football players or cheerleaders.

    For more information, call 737-9654.
