Foundation establishes Ewert memorial fund

The Fremont Union High Schools Foundation has set up a memorial scholarship fund in honor of Tom and Marcia Ewert, the brother and sister who died along with their parents May 11 in a plane crash.

Both Tom, class of 1976, and Marcia, class of 1977, were graduates of Fremont High School and members of the marching band.

Tom was a current active board member of the foundation, offering his expertise in photography and his energy and generosity to help raise supplementary resources for the students of the district. The scholarship fund honors brother and sister, both of whom were accomplished professionals in the arts.

The $500 fine arts scholarship will be awarded this year to a student with the hope that the scholarship fund will grow and be awarded yearly in Tom and Marcia's memory.

Donations may be sent directly to the Foundation and made payable to FUHSF Ewert Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 2648, Sunnyvale, CA 94087-0648.

In lieu of flowers, and in accordance with their parents' wishes, the surviving Ewert children are asking family and friends to make donations to the Angel Flight organization. Donations can be mailed to Angel Flight at 3237 Donald Douglas Loop South, Santa Monica, 90405-3213, or by calling 310/390-2958.
