Golf contest tees off

The Pin High Golf Center in San Jose will host the Re/Max North American Long Drive contest on June 8, 10 a.m. Contestants will compete for the right to advance to the district semifinals. Call 934-1111.

Dons win honors

Brad Hardtke, Rich Rodrigues and Steve Carrieri of De Anza Community College won postseason honors when they were selected to the all-conference baseball team in the North Division of the Coast Conference.

Hardtke, who starred as a prepster at Leland, hit over .400 in conference play with 19 doubles, ranking him third in the state for two-baggers.

Rodrigues, out of Homestead, finished near .400 with a team-high 10 home runs, and Carrieri, another Homestead graduate, hit .337 with four home runs.

Colt League signups

The North County Colt League is currently holding baseball signups for the 1996 season. The league is open to players ages 15-16. Call Jerry Feldman at 248-7738.

Gym open

Sunnyvale will offer an open gym for boys and girls ages 7-12 on Saturdays, 9-11 a.m., at Sunnyvale Middle School. The cost is $2 per person, and youngsters must bring a school ID. Call Heidi at 730-7721.

Summer basketball

A series of summer basketball camps for boys and girls ages 8-16 will be held in June and July at the Monta Vista gym.

The Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department will host the camps June 17-21, June 24-28 and July 22-26. Camp hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day, and the cost is $115 for Cupertino residents and $135 for non-residents.
