    Chamber Art and Wine Festival

    The 27th annual Art and Wine Festival will take place June 2 and 3, in a new location in downtown Sunnyvale. The festival will span from Sunnyvale Avenue to Washington Avenue, down to Murphy and Frances avenues

    The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event. It will feature over 500 of the country's finest artists, selections of wine from eight bay area winemakers, local microbreweries, food and beverages from local restaurants and free live music.

    Leadership Class 2001 Graduation

    Leadership of Sunnyvale Development Institute, class of 2000-2001, will graduate on May 31, with a ceremony at Yahoo!, 701 First Ave. in Sunnyvale.     Disease program to hold boat tour

    The Avian Disease Prevention Program is holding an educational boat tour on May 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory located at 1290 Hope St. in San Jose. The tour will take place behind locked gates to see South Bay sloughs that are not open the public. Watch as the observatory monitors the incidence of disease in our local waterfowl populations as part of a larger water quality program, while saving some lives along the way. Learn boatmanship, bird retrieval techniques and some avian first aid. The event is free of charge. For more information, call Janet Hanson at 408.946.6548.

    Euphrat Museum hosts De Anza student art show

    The Euphrat Museum of Art at De Anza College will exhibit the De Anza College Student Art Show from May 17 to June 14, 2001. The exhibit is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit will also be open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The museum will hold a reception on June 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. The collection, sponsored by the museum, the De Anza Associated Student Body and the Creative Arts Division, features many varieties of art created by De Anza students during the past year.

    Featherettes Dance Show

    Fremont High School's Featherettes Dance Team has been performing at half time shows and in dance competitions for more than 40 years and has consistently won awards at state and Northern California competitions.

    On May 24, the Featherettes will host their annual Spring Show at 7 p.m. in the high school's large gym. The show will feature the team's football and competition routines for the year as well as guest performances from other local high school dance teams.
