    Show Canada the money

I am writing in response to Moryt Milo's recent column ('Power outages bring out frustrations,' May 16).

It was interesting for me to note that she was "sure Mexico and Canada would help" with California's power crisis.

Although the citizens of California have been paying the bills they receive, the state has yet to pay its bill from Canada.

Because President Bush shoved us aside when we asked for help with the heavy U.S. duties imposed on Canadian lumber products and has virtually put any new "free trade" negotiations to that effect on hold, our government is considering ending its help with the power problems.

This is truly a sad state of affairs for Californians, and unless things change, it will probably get worse.
