Sunnyvale Roadrunners in State Cup final
Five wins in two days proved enough to push the Sunnyvale '82 Roadrunners into the finals of the Northern California State Cup soccer tournament.
The Roadrunners dominated the field in the 28-team first round, then won in the quarterfinals and semifinals to earn a shot at the State Cup title against the San Ramon Crunch.
The Roadrunners outscored their opponents 17-1 in the first round. The 'Runners blanked the MVLA Jammers and Oakland Bay Oaks by matching 6-0 scores and handled the El Dorado Rage 5-1 to win a place in the quarter-final round.
In the quarters, the Roadrunners rallied from a 1-0 deficit to pound Castro Valley 5-1.
