David Vossbrink leaves city
Dave Vossbrink, community relations officer for Sunnyvale, is leaving his post the end of the month.
"I've been here for 13 years and in public information work for two dozen years," he said. "And given the kind of opportunities that exist in this region and the set of experience skills I have, it's an interesting time to apply those in a different direction."
Although he didn't mention specific plans, Vossbrink said he'll first take time for himself before shifting directions.
"Fifteen years from now, I don't want to look back and have let myself be lulled by a comfort zone," he said.
New candidate announces bid
Tim Risch announced his candidacy last week for City Council seat No. 7, which will be vacated by Stan Kawczynski in November.
Risch is an engineer with Aerotherm Corporation, a high-tech company thatprovides aerospace research and materials. He serves on the Sunnyvale Downtown Resource Team, and in the past served on the Community Advisory Committee for Moffett Federal Airfield, the city's Land Use and Transportation Study Group, and the Bicycle Advisory Committee.
Risch joins two other candidates: former Mayor Fran Rowe and Ray Montalvo, director of retail operations for Le Boulanger.
