Track and field stars set for CCS finals

Powerful Kim Gleason of Lynbrook and speedy Kristen Kam of Fremont will lead a contingent of local athletes into the Central Coast Section track and field championships coming up May 28 at San Jose City College. Gleason, a CCS semifinal placer in the shot put and discus, will be in the throwing circle for the Vikings when the field events get under way at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Kam, sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in the girls semis last weekend, will be on the oval when the track events take the starting gun at 6 p.m. Gleason was seventh in both the shot (34-10) and discus (110-2) at the CCS semifinals, and she'll be joined by long-jumper Diana Chien of Monta Vista and triple-jumper Barrett Bryson of Lynbrook.

Kam was sixth in the hurdles in 47.32 and she'll be joined on the track by Daniel Seddiqui of Homestead (fifth in the 1,600 meters in 4:26.06).
