    Tennis Tournament

    The Sunnyvale Tennis Center will host the USTA Men's Features Event Tennis Challenge. From June 8 to 18, more than 100 world-ranked men's tennis players will be competing for the $15,000 in prize money. This year's tournament will be the beginning of an annual event.     FUSD 2001 Awards

    Shui-man Choy, peer tutorial program coordinator at Homestead High School has been honored with an employee community service award. Homer Tong, the president of Board of Trustees of the Fremont Union School District, presented the award on May 15. Byron Lee was also honored as Homestead High School's teacher of the year. Instructional Assistant Dee Wood was honored as the Fremont Union High School District's classified employee of the year from Homestead High School. Jim Walker, Barbara Juhl, Laurie Dean and Dick Lohmiller were honored as "Friends of Education." This is the highest honor that the district awards to recognize members of the community for their involvement in the district.

    Summer Camp for Middle School Kids

    The Sunnyvale Department of Parks and Recreation is bringing back Summer SESH, a summer camp for middle school youth, ages 11 to 14. The camp offers a wide variety of programs and activities. Activities include leadership training, creative projects, and sporting events. For more info call 408.730.7741.
