Former Central Coast Section swimming champion Kirk McGowan addresses the crowd after returning home to Fremont High School for a special awards ceremony on Wednesday. McGowan, who won CCS titles in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events as a swimmer for Fremont in 1976 and '77, was honored along with his teammates at the evening event. The Fremont Athletic Boosters unfurled banners recognizing McGowan, the swim teams of '76 and '77, and the boys tennis team of 1969.
