Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.
Possession for Sale--May 20, 6:00 p.m., 150 North Maude Avenue. In serving a search warrant to a suspect, the narcotics unit located 93.9 grams of methamphetamine, 21.1 grams of cocaine, and 398.1 grams of marijuana. The suspects had partially packaged the substances. Officers also located scales, packaging material, cell phones, pagers and pipes.
Retail Burglary--May 29, 5:15 p.m., 200 block of West Washington Avenue at Macy's. A female suspect entered the store, selected merchandise and removed the tags and exited the store without paying. Loss prevention officers stopped her in the parking lot, and a search of her wallet revealed two fraudulent government-issued documents.
Speed Contest--May 28, 6:20 p.m., 600 block of North Mathilda Avenue. An officer witnessed a speed contest between two drivers, both in converted Acura coupes with modified exhaust systems. The speed limit was 40 miles per hour, and the officer clocked the drivers in excess of 80 miles per hour in heavy traffic.
Auto Burglary--Between May 27 at 10 p.m. and May 28 at 8 a.m., 800 block of Sutter Avenue. An unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's parked car by smashing the right front passenger window. The suspect(s) rummaged through the glove compartment and took some spare change.
