Local summer sports camps for kids
The annual Santa Clara Baseball School returns to Santa Clara University this summer, under the direction of Broncos head coach Mike Cummins and former Santa Clara player and coach Lou Lucas.
Camp sessions include: Session I-- June 22-26, basic fundamentals and hitting, 9 a.m.-noon, $110, and pitching only, 1-2:30 p.m., $60; Session II-- July 6-10, hitting only, 9-10:15 a.m. or 10:30-11:45 a.m, $60; and Session III--July 20-24, basic fundamentals and hitting, 9 a.m.-noon, $110, and pitching only, 1-2:30 p.m., $60.
Joining Cummins and Lucas on the camp staff this summer will be Santa Clara pitching coach Greg Gohr, a former Santa Clara mound star who spent four years in the major leagues with the Detroit Tigers and Anaheim Angels.

Former San Francisco Giants second baseman Rob Andrews will head up the San Francisco Giants Youth Baseball Camps that will be held this summer at various Bay Area locations.
There will be a Giants Youth Camp held June 22-26, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. each day, at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino. The camp is open to players ages 8-12, and the cost is $215 per player.
An advanced training class for players ages 10-12 will be held June 29-July 3 at Monta Vista. The cost is $215.
The camp features instruction according to age groups. All campers receive a free ticket to a San Francisco Giants home game, a tour of 3Com Park (including the Giants clubhouse) for campers and their parents, visits from former pros who will provide instruction and sign autographs, a camp T-shirt, a 5x7 color photo with coaches and visiting pros, and a camp scouting report.

The annual Golden Eagle Summer Sports Camps for youngsters ages 5-14 will be held June 15-July 31, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. each day, at Pioneer, Homestead and Saratoga high schools under the direction of Nelson and Monica Lodge.
Camps are designed to stress instruction, safety, fun and affordability. The cost is $145 per week for regular camp hours (9 a.m.-4 p.m.), and $4 for each additional hour.
