Coach Ray Loya turns 50
Popular area coach Ray Loya will celebrate his 50th birthday, and the athletes who have played for him through the years are invited to participate in the celebration.
Special guests include players from Sunnyvale High School football, Fremont High football and softball, the Pop Warner Black Knights, St. Martin's basketball and Lakewood Youth Baseball.

NASCAR racing at Home Depot
NASCAR auto racing is coming to local Home Depot stores when a state-of-the-art mobile unit outfitted with a racing simulator and interactive tool workshop rolls into the area this month.
The simulator, modeled after the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Pontiac that's driven by rookie of the year candidate Tony Stewart, a former Indy Racing League champion, is life-sized and true-to-spec. Participants can take the wheel and experience the roar of the engine.
The mobile unit will visit the following locations: Milpitas, 1535 Landess Ave., on June 9, 3-7 p.m.; San Jose, 920 Blossom Hill Road, on June 10, 3-7 p.m.; Santa Clara, 2435 Lafayette, on June 13, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Sunnyvale, 680 Kifer Road, on June 17, 3-7 p.m.
Soccer signups
The Sunnyvale AYSO soccer organization will hold signups for youngsters ages 4-18 interested in playing in the 1999 fall season.
Signups are scheduled for June 12, noon-5 p.m., at the Ponderosa Park Building.
Players must provide the names and phone numbers of a family doctor and emergency contact person; name of health insurance carrier; a passport-sized photo; and proof of age.
