    Las Palmas wins

    The Las Palmas men's 3.0 adult tennis team was one of eight squads from USTA Northern California to win a USA Senior League Sectional championship in recent play in Napa.

    Las Palmas will now advance to the national championships to be held Oct. 12-15 in Palm Springs. Men's and women's sectional champs were crowned in the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 divisions for players over age 50.

    Wheelchair relay

    The "Chariots of Fire" Wheelchair Relay Race, featuring 10 teams of disabled and able-bodied young people from the Digitally Abled Producers Project, will be held on June 17, 9 a.m., at the Sunnyvale Town Center.

    The race is part of Digital Picnic 2000, an event to raise public awareness about the needs of people with disabilities.

    Sunnyvale Alliance

    The Sunnyvale Alliance Soccer Club will hold signups for the 2000 season on June 25, 1-4 p.m., at the De Anza Park Recreation Building, corner of Ticonderoga and Lime in Sunnyvale.

    The league is open to boys and girls ages 4-18 (as of Aug. 1) and there are programs for both recreational and competitive players.

    The registration fee ranges from $60-90, depending on age and program. Players must provide a copy of their birth certificate, a 1-inch photo of themself, the registration fee and the name of their doctor at the signup.
