Triathlons at Lake Almaden

The Danskin Women's Triathlon and the San Jose International Triathlon will be held on back-to-back weekends at Lake Almaden on Almaden Expressway in San Jose.

The Danskin Triathlon, for women only, is set for June 21. Women will compete in a half-mile swim, a 20K bike race and a 5K run. The cost is $40 for individuals or $90 for relays, and there is a mandatory orientation on June 20. There will also be a special 5K run/walk for both men and women, and the entry fee is $15.

The San Jose International will be held June 28 on the same site, but competitors will complete a 1K swim, 40K bike ride and 10K run. The entry fee is $70 for individuals or $100 for relays by June 21, or $80 and $125 after.

The event will also feature a mountain bike sprint triathlon on June 27. Athletes will compete in a 500-yard swim, 10-mile bike ride and 3-mile run. The entry fee is $35 by June 20 or $45 after.

All-comers meets

Los Gatos will host a series of all-comers track and field meets at the high school track this summer. Meets are held Thursdays at 5 p.m. through Aug. 25. The entry fee is $3 for unlimited events, and the fee is $2 for spectators. For more information, call at 354-7365.
