    Public Safety

    The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

    Commercial Theft--May 4, 6 p.m., 500 block of East El Camino Real at Lucky's. The suspect took a bottle of Jack Daniel's and emptied the contents into a water bottle to conceal the theft, and then left without paying.

    Drug Possession--May 8, 10 a.m., 800 block Lakenoll Drive. Police arrested a 37-year-old male for possession of stolen property, heroin, a hypodermic needle and for being under the influence of controlled substances.

    Prowling--June 12, 10:41 p.m., 600 block Hawthorne Ave. Police arrived on the scene in response to a disturbance call and found a 37-year-old male and 17-year-old female suspect in the resident's darkened carport in a vehicle not registered to either of them. The male suspect gave several false names to avoid being arrested for an outstanding warrant.

    Theft--June 17, 3:50 p.m., 600 block South Bernardo Ave. at Safeway. A store employee observed a suspect with a cart full of groceries walk past the check-out and into the parking lot. The suspect had previously been arrested for theft and had served time.

    Possession--June 17, 4:30 p.m. The narcotics unit conducted a search at the suspect's apartment and discovered cocaine and marijuana individually packaged for sale. The suspect also had ledgers and a digital scale.
