    Yasser Clor did his part.

And so did the Dodgers of the Sunnyvale Metro Little League in the first round of the District 44 major division Tournament of Champions.

Clor tossed three perfect innings and crushed a three-run homer to lead the Dodgers to a 7-0 win over the Dodgers of the Sunnyvale National Little League in a game played last Wednesday at the Sunnyvale Serra Little League field.

Clor helped Metro jump out to an early lead, then his teammates took over to help clinch the victory in the TOC game.

Richard McDowell came on in relief of Clor and tossed three scoreless innings to complete the win.

Clor was unhittable over the first three frames. He retired nine straight hitters, eight on strikeouts, to get the Dodgers off to a good start in the game.

As if his pitching wasn't enough, Clor blasted a three-run homer in the second inning to put his team on top 3-0 early in the game. He added a single and scored a run in the sixth for Metro. Jonas Krave also scored in the sixth for the Dodgers.

McDowell was also impressive in his three-inning mound stint. McDowell allowed just two hits in his relief role, striking out a pair while allowing no walks and no runs.

Scott Isaak had the only other hit of the game for Metro, a double in the fifth inning. Isaak and Scott Zang each scored in the two-run rally in the fifth, giving the Dodgers a couple of insurance runs.

Nathan Cathcart, Ricky Dobson and Robert Sedin combined to toss a three-hitter in the loss for National.

Cathcart struck out two and gave up just one hit over the first two innings, but the one hit was the home run by Clor.

Dobson struck out seven in his three innings of mound work.

Cathcart singled in the fourth and Zac Rouleau singled in the fifth to account for the only two hits for National in the game.

Taylor Yemm tossed a four-hitter to spark Tri Cities to a 3-0 win over Cupertino National. Yemm struck out nine and walked none in the win, and he helped his cause at the plate with a single and a double. Eric Ross also singled and doubled.

Tri Cities scored single runs in the first, second and fourth in the win.

Leo Haley walked, raced to third on a double by Ross and scored and a ground out by Ryan Herrington to give Tri Cities a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Chris Haley made it 2-0 in the second when he singled, took second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.

Tri Cities picked up a final run in the fourth. Jimmy Trask singled, moved around the bases on a couple of wild pitches and scored on a throwing error.

Brad Drinkwater had two hits for Cupertino National.

In other major division action, the Santa Clara Westside Cubs knocked off the Sunnyvale Southern Rockies 4-1; Mountain View outlasted Campbell 5-3; Sunnyvale Metro blanked Sunnyvale National 7-0; the Moreland Cardinals nipped Sunnyvale Serra Orioles 3-2 in 10 innings; Los Altos edged Cupertino American 7-6; and Santa Clara Homestead beat Moreland 5-1.

The major division TOC semifinals are set for June 26, 5 p.m. at the Sunnyvale National Little League field and 5:30 p.m. at the Los Altos Little League field. The finals are slated for June 28, 5:30 p.m., at the McKelvey Park in Mountain View.

    Minor division

The Cupertino National Braves started the District 44 minor division Tournament of Champions off right with a solid 6-2 win over the Sunnyvale Southern Rockies.

Chris Hara singled twice and tripled to lead a six-hit attack for the Braves. Zack Brown ripped a double in the win.

Chris Cantwell was the winning pitcher as the Braves held the Rockies to just two hits in the game. Sunnyvale scored single runs in the third and fifth innings.

Scott Jasper was stuck with the tough pitching loss, even though the Rockies allowed the Braves just six hits in the game. The Braves scored a run in the second, added two in the third and picked up three insurance runs in the sixth.

The Sunnyvale National A's dropped a 9-8 heartbreaker to the Mountain View White Sox to fall out of the tournament in the first round.

The A's took an 8-0 lead into the sixth inning, but the White Sox rallied for nine in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the victory. The Sox took advantage of 10 walks and a double by Micha Hafich to tally the nine runs.

Sunnyvale National had jumped in front with four runs in the third, thanks to four walks and a hit batsman, and four more in the fifth. Single by Rob Ramirez, Matt Alva, Curtis Swain and Rick Ramirez keyed the fifth-inning rally for the A's.

In other minor division TOC play, the Santa Clara Briarwood-El Camino Yankees nipped the Santa Clara Westside Pirates 8-7; Moreland knocked off Campbell 8-4; Sunnyvale Serra beat Sunnyvale Metro 6; and Santa Clara Homestead Cubs outslugged Los Altos 22-20 and handled Cupertino American 13-1.

The minor division TOC semifinals are set for June 26, 5 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Metro Little League field and 5:30 p.m. at the Los Altos Little League field. The finals are slated for June 29, 5:30 p.m., at the Santa Clara Briarwood-El Camino Little League field.
