There's more than one grandmothers' club
I enjoyed the article Kelly Wilkinson wrote in the June 23 issue of The Sun about the Grandmothers Club. However, there were a few significant facts the members of the club failed to mention. First, there are two clubs in Sunnyvale, the Centennial Belles and Club No. 14, to which I belong.
Secondly, Club No. 14 is honored to have among its members Marge Jordan, the State President of the California State Grandmothers Clubs. Mrs. Jordan presides over 20 clubs from San Diego to Sacrament, with close to 1,000 members throughout the state. Club No. 14 meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in Room 503 at the Sunnyvale Senior Center on McKinley and Pastoria streets. Come and join us and have loads of fun.

Inform local lawmakers to oppose driving tests based on age
Kindly persuade lawmakers and the governor to reject the mandatory driving tests based on age.
Instead persuade them to provide compulsory education such as "55 Alive," a senior driving class sponsored by the AARP. Also, each person needs to certify, during license renewal, that he or she does not have specific listed conditions that could result in an accident.
I vehemently oppose mandatory yearly driving tests for seniors. I suggest lawmakers specify specific conditions for which a person, irrespective of age, must take yearly driving tests otherwise penalty will be given.
The proposed legislation is discriminatory and extremely unfair to seniors.
