Six school board spots up for election

Three seats on the Sunnyvale Elementary School District will be up for grabs in the November elections. Terms are four years. Members are responsible for policies and decision-making for the elementary and junior high schools in the district.

The Cupertino Union School District will also have three seats open on its school board. About 2,800 Sunnyvale children attend CUSD schools. Four of the district's schools, Nimitz, Stocklmeir and West Valley Elementary and Cupertino Junior High, are located in Sunnyvale. Members of the board set policy for elementary and junior high schools and attend regular meetings and other functions.

The nomination period for seats on both boards begins July 14 and ends Aug. 8. Nomination packets will be available at the Registrar of Voters Office, 1553 Berger Dr., San Jose. For more information call the SESD at 522-8200, the CUSD at 252-3000 or the Registrar of Voters Office at 299-8639.
