City's lobbyists on monthly plan

The existing policy of using consultants to lobby the city's interests for Moffett Field will continue, but only on a month-to-month basis, City Council members unanimously agreed at a special meeting July 7.

The city's current contract with the consulting firm Black Kelly Scruggs & Healy will expire July 31.

Council also identified three tasks it would like to tackle: securing a new hangar for the 129th Rescue Wing, developing a Western Disaster Center, and supporting NASA's commitment to the base.

The city has paid more than $700,000 in the past two years for lobbyists in Sacramento and Washington D.C.

The city will pay Black Kelly Scruggs & Healy $20,000 per month to argue for the city's interests.

De Anza group wins awards

Rachel Stogner is the newsletter's editor and the 1998-1999 chapter president.

The chapter was also recognized for having the best activities that promote fellowship both within and outside the organization.
