Armed robbery--600 block of Caliente Avenue, July 10 at 8:40 p.m. A man entered a pizza place and emptied the cash drawer while employees were in the back. When the employees confronted him, he pulled out a handgun. The robber forced the employees into the bathroom and fled the scene in a light-colored car.
Vehicular manslaughter--400 block of Glendale Avenue, July 12 at 10 a.m. A 67-year-old man drove his car through the rear fence of an adjoining apartment complex. He struck a woman who was standing in her back yard. The 28-year-old had severe internal injuries and died at the hospital. The man was arrested at the scene.
Controlled substance--Iris Avenue and Golden Oak, July 12 at 1 a.m. A man was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was booked into county jail. Bail was set at $10,000.
Accident--Mathilda Avenue, July 12 at 6:30 p.m. A car heading north on Mathilda was hit head-on by a car that crossed over the center divider. There were no major injuries and no alcohol was involved. One car could be driven away; the other was totaled.
Drunk in public--Hollenbeck near Sara Park, July 13 at 3:20 a.m. A man was drunk in the park when public safety officers noticed him. After searching him, they found items of stolen property including jewelry. He was on parole, so he was sent to jail without bail.
