    Jazz Society will meet

    The South Bay Traditional Jazz Society, a 25-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and education of traditional jazz music for people of all ages, meets monthly at the Sunnyvale Elks Lodge, 375 N. Pastoria Ave. This month's meeting will be held on July 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring Professor Plum's Jazz Band.

    The meeting will also include dancing and a raffle, with food and bar available. Admission to the meeting is $8 at the door. Call Rich Owens at 408.736.3589 for more information.

    Local market holds cooking healthy class in Sunnyvale

    Wild Oats Community Market will host a free cooking class on July 18 at 7 p.m. at the market, 1265 S. Mary St. The class, presented by Alka Chandna, will teach participants how to make healthy summer salads and dinners using products that are vegan, low fat, low calorie, low cholesterol and tasty.

    Free composting class to be held on July 28

    The Home Composting Education Program of Santa Clara County, in coordination with the city of Sunnyvale, is sponsoring a free composting basics workshop on July 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sunnyvale Community Center Arboretum, 550 E. Remington Drive.

    Sunnyvale residents can purchase a low-cost composting bin following the class. Pre-registration is required for the workshop. Call 408.730.7262 to register or for more information.

    Art club to hold meeting

    The Sunnyvale Art Club meets the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Community Center Arboretum, 550 E. Remington Dr. For more information, call 408.734.8049.
