Fremont's Tom Jimenez, making a tackle in regular-season high school action, will be among the North all-stars in the Charlie Wedemeyer Football Classic on July 26 at San Jose City College.

It was truly a star-studded field.
Doug Cosbie was there, just a few years before he would become the All-Pro tight end for the Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys.
Don Schwartz was there, just a few years before he would become a star for the St. Louis Cardinals and New Orleans Saints in the National Football League.
And Millard Hampton was there, just two years before he would win gold and silver medals at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.
But they were not alone.
Homestead's Jim Klemchuk was there, too. And so was Sunnyvale's Gary Robinson.
And like Cosbie, Schwartz and Hampton, they were representing their schools, and representing them well, in the first ever Santa Clara County All-Star Football Game, played in the summer of 1974.
There is no longer a Sunnyvale High School. But Homestead will be represented well again this summer when the 22nd annual Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game returns to the Santa Clara Valley.
Homestead football stars Bret Erickson, Leo Fisher and Jeremie Braun will be on the field for the North squad for the kickoff of the annual all-star game hosted by the Almaden Rotary Club on July 26 at 8 p.m. at San Jose City College.
They'll be joined by local standout Tom Jimenez of Fremont in the All-Star Classic.
The local stars join a talented list of Homestead, Fremont, Peterson and Sunnyvale high all-stars dating back to that first game in 1974:
