Speed camp
Olympic gold medalist Andre Phillips and veteran track coach Stan Dowell will host a speed and quickness camp Aug. 2-6 on the Los Gatos High School track.
The camp will feature speed and quickness training for all running sports, including football, basketball, baseball and soccer.
Phillips, who struck gold at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea, in the 400-intermediate hurdles, will head up the camp along with Dowell, who coached Phillips and also coached Lee Evans to a world record and Olympic gold in the 400 meters.
The cost for the camp is $150 per athlete and sessions run 5:30-7 p.m. daily.

Camp with pros
South Bay Baseball presents its annual Camp With the Pros, a baseball camp for players ages 7-12 of all skill levels. The final session of the camp is set for Aug. 2-6, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, at John Muir Middle School in San Jose.
The camp fee is $109 per player per session, but family and group rates are available.
Roger Samuels, a former major league pitcher for San Francisco and Pittsburgh, is the camp director, and the director of instruction is Live Oak High School coach Mark Cummins, a former professional player and infielder at Santa Clara University.
