Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.
Rape-July 31, 6:50 a.m., 100 block West Ahwanee Avenue. Police arrested a 50-year-old male on two counts of raping his spouse and terrorist threats.
Possession of Cocaine-July 31, 4:25 p.m., 700 block of North Mathilda. Two suspects had rented a room at Motel 6 when the manager reported to the police that the suspects did not pay their bill and the room smelled of marijuana. A search revealed cocaine and marijuana, and one of the suspects was on parole.
Petty Theft-July 29, 8 p.m., 200 block West Iowa at Ward's. The suspect entered the store barefoot, went directly to the shoe section, removed a pair of boots and put them on. He then placed the box back on the shelf and preceded to walk out of the store without paying for the boots.
Petty Theft-July 28, 3:30 p.m., 1600 block Hollenbeck Avenue at Safeway. The suspect entered the store and concealed a tube of toothpaste on her person. She then went to the register and proceeded to pay for several other items, but not the toothpaste. After attempting to leave the store, a further search revealed that she had also taken a chicken, deodorizer, and rubber bands.
Terrorist Threats--July 7, 8:10 p.m., 900 block of E. Duane Avenue. Police arrested a male suspect who was accused of making terrorist threats.
