    Charles Fiuri (Chasey) Gagliasso, 77, dies

    Longtime resident of Santa Clara County Charles Fiuri (Chasey) Gagliasso died on June 25, at the age of 77. Born in Los Gatos on June 5, 1923, Gagliasso was a second-generation Californian whose ancestors came to Santa Clara Valley in 1887 and planted hundreds of acres of vineyards.

    Gagliasso attended Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, fighting in the Normandy invasion.

    Gagliasso is survived by his wife, Mildred, whom he met on a train before shipping off to Europe during the war. They were married upon his return from war in 1946. In 1955, Gagliasso and his wife started a construction trucking company in Cupertino, which remains in business in Santa Clara today.

    Gagliasso is also survived by his six children, Michael, Marsha, Donald, Cheryl, Denise and Charles Jr. He has 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
