Laverne Morris, 71, dies

Sunnyvale resident Laverne Morris died Aug. 4 at the age of 71. Born on Jan. 17, 1930 in Weldon, N.C., Morris moved to Sunnyvale in 1988. She worked as a nurse's aide for the Sunnyvale School District for many years. Morris is survived by her son, Larry Thomas.

A memorial service was held Aug. 12 at the S.G.I. Community Center in San Jose. Funeral arrangements by the Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary.
