Voters to decide on BART measure

Police investigate fatal shooting





    Public Safety

    The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.

    Graffiti--August 7, 1:08 p.m., 800 block W. El Camino Real. Defacement of property occurred at a craft store. Damage was estimated at $401.

    Auto burglary--August 7, 3:13 a.m., 300 block Greenlake Drive. Suspect removed a stereo, compact discs, and sunglasses with a total value of $350.

    Petty theft--August 6, 10:19 p.m., 700 block N. Mathilda Avenue. After victim walked into a restaurant, the suspects walked out of the restaurant and stole the victim's bike. The bike was worth an estimated $100.

    Embezzlement--August 5, 8:37 p.m., 200 block W. Iowa Avenue. A cash register clerk told suspect to select merchandise and bring it to the register. The suspected clerk staged a false registering and charged the suspect $8.12 for one item of the nine selected for purchase. The total estimated value of the stolen items was $197.79.

    Battery--August 4, 1:44 a.m., 100 block S. Murphy Avenue. Three suspects instigated a fight with several patrons at a bar.

    Manufacturing of a controlled substance--August 3, 10:20 a.m., 800 block White Oak Lane. Numerous items of contraband were located, all consistent with manufacturing, selling, and use of narcotics.

    Violation of a restraining order--August 2, 9:13 p.m., 700 block Hollenbeck Rd. Suspect yelled "Here she is, the bitch," at his neighbor, the victim. The victim called police and requested that the suspect be placed under arrest for violation of a valid restraining order. Police arrested the suspect and transported him to county jail.
