Soccer tryouts
The Sunnyvale Spartans, a boys soccer team that competes in the CYSA Class 1 division, is looking for players for the fall season. Boys born after July 31, 1989, are eligible. Email jch_2000@yahoo.com or call 408.720.1882.
Adult softball
The registration deadline for the Sunnyvale Recreation Department sponsored fall adult softball seaosn is Aug. 16. League play begins Sept. 5, and the registration fee is $370 per team, plus $10 for each non-resident. Call 408.730.7334.
Redwood run
The annual Race Through the Redwoods, a 10K run from downtown Felton to Henry Cowell State Park, will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 20. The entry fee is $15 by Aug. 18 or $20 on race day. Call 831.335.3542, e-mail joyclm@aol.com or check Web sites www.theschedule.com or www.active.com.
Softball tryouts

'Keeper clinic
A clinic for soccer goalkeepers will be held Aug. 22-24, 9 a.m.-noon each day, at Greer Park in Palo Alto. The cost is $150 per player. Call 408.799.3775.
